Cap and Gown
Dowdy Students Stores, located in the Main Campus Student Center, is East Carolina University’s official source for graduation regalia, merchandise, and apparel. Graduating students can pick up their cap and gown at Dowdy Student Stores.
Commencement Hours of Operation:
- Thursday, May 2 (7:30am – 5:00pm)
- Friday, May 3 (8:00am – 5:00pm)
- Saturday, May 4 (8:00am – 4:00pm)
Undergraduate and Master Degree Students
Undergraduate and Masters students can pick up their cap and gown beginning the first day of the Grad Fair on March 12, 2024. Be sure to contact the Dowdy Student Stores website or call (252) 328-6731 to confirm hours of operation.
For undergraduate students, you do not need to pay for the cap and gown as the cost was built into other student graduation fees.
For Master’s degree students, you do not need to pay for the cap and gown but will need to purchase your hood separately if you wish to participate in the ceremony. Dowdy Student Stores know which color hood goes with each specific degree.
Distance Education Students
If you are not in the Greenville area during the semester and you are an undergraduate or masters degree student graduating, please complete the form below to place your order for your cap and gown by April 19, 2024.
By filling out this form it tells the bookstore what you need so they can pull it. It does not charge you for shipping to send it out. If you need a stole, honor cord, or masters hood you can order that from the bookstore website at ecu.bncollege.com before filling out the form. The form will ask for an order number if you did order any of these items and then we will be able to send everything you ordered and your regalia out together.
NOTE: Make sure to select SHIP OUT on your order for us to be able to send it out. When ordering it is on auto default for in store pick up and you must change it for us to be able to ship it out.
If you don’t order any of the items above, we will have to call you by phone to charge you shipping so we can send it out.
Spring 2024 Distance Education Regalia Form (closed)
REMINDER: For a stole, honor cord, or master’s hood, go to ecu.bncollege.com FIRST before filling out the form as you will need to include the order number.

Doctoral Students (PhD, Medical and Dental)
Doctoral graduates may order their rental regalia by completing the form below and must be picked up in the main campus bookstore location. Rental regalia will need to be returned to the bookstore by May 8, 2024 after the commencement ceremony. The cost to rent regalia is $96.50 plus tax and what is recommended for students.
The deadline for ordering Doctoral rental regalia was March 13, 2024. Regalia should arrive at the main campus bookstore no later than April 16, 2024 and will be available for pick up all the way up to graduation ceremonies.

Additional Expenses
Basic cap, gown, and tassel are covered by fees the university has charged students. The following are prices for extra items not included in what fees cover for graduation and will be an out-of-pocket expense for the student.
