Cap and Gown
Dowdy Students Stores, located in the Main Campus Student Center, is East Carolina University’s official source for graduation regalia, merchandise, and apparel. Graduating students can pick up their cap and gown at Dowdy Student Stores.
The Grad Expo for Spring 2026 will be February 24-25 from 10am-6pm and February 26 from 10am-2pm at Dowdy Student Stores.
Undergraduate and Master Degree Students
Undergraduate and Masters students can pick up their cap and gown beginning the first day of the Grad Fair on February 24, 2026 until graduation day on May 8, 2026. Be sure to contact the Dowdy Student Stores website or call (252) 328-6731 to confirm hours of operation.
For undergraduate students, you do not need to pay for the cap and gown as the cost was built into other student graduation fees.
For Master’s degree students, you do not need to pay for the cap and gown but will need to purchase your hood separately if you wish to participate in the ceremony. Dowdy Student Stores know which color hood goes with each specific degree.
Distance Education Students
If you are not in the Greenville area during the semester and you are an undergraduate or masters degree student graduating, please complete the form below to place your order for your cap and gown prior to TBA.
For Undergraduate or Master’s degree students, you must order an item for ship out from the Dowdy Student Stores website under Student Essentials/Regalia. Additional details can be found on the Distance Education Regalia form below.

REMINDER: For a stole, honor cord, or master’s hood, go to Dowdy Student Stores Regalia website FIRST before filling out the form as you will need to include the order number.

Doctoral Students (PhD, Medical and Dental)
Doctoral graduates may purchase their regalia by completing the form below and must be picked up in the main campus bookstore location. The cost to purchase regalia is $210. A high-end custom ECU specific regalia (similar to the Chancellor) is available for purchase at $1,400.
- This site is for souvenir-quality regalia and fine-quality doctoral regalia.
- The deadline to purchase regalia for Spring 2026 commencement is March 13, 2026.
- Pick-up is at the Dowdy Student Stores inside the Main Campus Student Center beginning April 13, 2026.

Additional Expenses
Basic cap, gown, and tassel are covered by fees the university has charged students. The following are prices for extra items not included in what fees cover for graduation and will be an out-of-pocket expense for the student.
