Cap and Gown
Dowdy Students Stores, located in the Main Campus Student Center, is East Carolina University’s official source for graduation regalia, merchandise, and apparel. Graduating students can pick up their cap and gown at Dowdy Student Stores.
Undergraduate and Master Degree Students
Undergraduate and Masters students can pick up their cap and gown at any point before the Commencement ceremonies. Be sure to contact the Dowdy Student Stores website or call (252) 328-6731 to confirm hours of operation.
For undergraduate students, you do not need to pay for the cap and gown as the cost was built into other student graduation fees.
For Master’s degree students, you do not need to pay for the cap and gown but will need to purchase your hood separately if you wish to participate in the ceremony. Dowdy Student Stores know which color hood goes with each specific degree.
Distance Education Students
If you are not in the Greenville area during the semester and you are an undergraduate or masters degree student graduating, please complete the form below to place your order for your cap and gown. This form is for students that live outside of Greenville and would like their regalia shipped to them for an additional shipping fee of $8.99.
Fall 2023 Distance Education Regalia Form (available mid-October)
NOTE: For honor cords or master’s hood, go to ecu.bncollege.com FIRST before filling out the form as you will need to include the order number.
Doctoral Students (PhD, Medical and Dental)
Doctoral graduates may order their rental regalia by completing the form below and must be picked up in the main campus bookstore location. Rental regalia will need to be returned to the bookstore by December 18, 2023 after the commencement ceremony. The cost to rent regalia is $96.50 plus tax and what is recommended for students.
The deadline for ordering Doctoral rental regalia is October 30, 2023. Regalia should arrive at the main campus bookstore no later than December 1, 2023 and will be available for pick up all the way up to graduation ceremonies.
Additional Expenses
Basic cap, gown, and tassel are covered by fees the university has charged students. The following are prices for extra items not included in what fees cover for graduation and will be an out-of-pocket expense for the student.
