The university confers degrees at the end of each fall, spring, and summer term. Commencement ceremonies are held at the end of the fall semester to recognize summer graduates and fall degree candidates, and at the end of the spring semester to recognize spring degree candidates. All coursework and all other degree requirements must be completed prior to the degree conferral date for the graduation term. Application for graduation must be completed online at least two semesters prior to completing the requirements of the degree. You should consult with your academic advisor to ensure your Degree Works audit is complete or will be completed on time.
Instructions for How to Apply for Graduation
Dowdy Students Stores in the Wright Building is East Carolina University’s official source for graduation regalia, merchandise, and apparel. A Graduation Expo is held each semester for upcoming graduates. This is the first opportunity for seniors and graduate students to pick up their cap and gown. Tables have information and special offers for graduates at both locations. All students graduating should plan to attend if possible. Expos are held in early October for December graduates, and February for May graduates.
You may pick up your cap and gown at Dowdy Student Stores in the Wright Building any time during business hours. Please do so as soon as possible to ensure a proper size.
See below for the downloadable form you will need to complete or you may complete one in person at the store. There is no charge for undergraduates as this cost was built into other student graduation fee. Master’s degree students will pay for their hood if participating in the ceremony.
Student must complete and return the Cap and Gown Form located at: http://www.ecu.edu/cs-admin/studentstores/Undergraduate.cfm
